YOu've Booked your session now what??

A NEW BABY in the house can be tiring of course, so thinking about your newborn session can feel overwhelming. Don't worry though, im here to help and guide you through it all. I want this to be a joyous and happy experience!

Picking Your date

I usually don't like to set the date until after your have the baby. This helps you as a mom not commit to too much before you know what you're actually up for. I do though like to do newborns in the first 14 days of life. This is when they’re still super sleepy, curly, and very flexible, which makes for the most adorable photos. Of course, I understand life happens—if you miss that window, don’t worry! I’ll still be able to capture beautiful images of your little one at any age. This session is about 60-90 mins

The best time to do newborn sessions are in the morning, I usually schedule these 10-11am start time. This usually gives me the best lighting in your homes!

Preparing baby

Keep your baby awake before the session. If you can, try to keep your baby awake for an hour or two before we meet. A gentle bath or playtime can help keep them alert so they’re ready for a good nap during the shoot. Babies like to sleep a lot, so just do your best.

Feed your baby right before i arrive. A full belly will keep your little one content and sleepy during the session. It's okay to be done as I arrive, I have a little setting up to do before we start.

Have a Paci on hand. If baby takes a Paci its nice to have it on hand so I can help sooth them into shots.

Have a warm house this helps keep baby calm and relaxed during the session.

No socks or mittens because it leaves marks on their sink in the images!

YOur home

I like to do your newborns singles in an open well lit area! Usually near a window. These are done from above, so don't worry about the surround area there.

When we move to the family photos, I like to use the nursery (if you have one) and the master bedroom. Where we will get you sweet lifestyle photos of your family and baby.

simple things to help is bedside tables cleared and bed made!

What do you need?

I bring with me to every in-home newborn session a few props: basket with fuzzy blanket, and swaddle blankets in a few colors. We don’t have to use any props at all, if you choose. I do encourage if you have special things to use during the session (blanket, outfit, bows, hats etc) just let me know at the start of the session

Clothing - Choose solid colors or light patterns. Neutral tones like whites, soft pastels, or earth tones work well. Avoid clothing with logos or text—simple is best so the focus stays on your baby!

DOn't stress, relax and take it all in
